What happens next?

Assuming you have 'eligible' songs that you have sent us, we will confirm with you that we have received your song(s) along with chords and lyrics. Then the following is what we do with the songs:

1. At this point we will read through the lyrics and listen to the song a few times and note down any first impressions.

2. To put it bluntly, we leave it alone for a little while and revisit the song over the next month to two. This is because we find that sometimes little bits that maybe jarred at the first tentative hearing no longer jar, and sometimes bits that really stand out, don't stand out as much. Don't you find quite often that the song that you first love on a great album usually isn't the one that sticks with you for the longest?

3. At this stage, we have a song submission meeting, and listen to the song together and compareour notes. It is at this meeting that we decide whether the song is one we feel that we should invest more time into and also the feedback to be given to the songwriter.

4. If we feel you song is one that we would like to pursue then we will let you know at this stage.Either way one of us will get in touch with the songwriter with constructive feedback regarding the song.

The feedback we give is intended to be constructive and helpful. However we always want to be honest, and do not like to lead people awry. In short, sometimes there are songs that are sent to us that are simply not up to standard and sometimes we simply have to communicate this back, we do strive to do this in a brotherly way. If you are not prepared for such an eventuality then please do not submit your song.

What are the possible outcomes of all this?

This really does work on a case by case basis, but generally speaking, the songs will be shortlisted to possibly be chosen to have a New Song recording made. These songs are given exposure through this website as a free download with a chord chart and through SongTeach. We will also present them at all available opportunities to worship leaders and other songwriters. For details on the NewSongs downloads click here. We will gather feedback on these NewSongs downloads and feed this back to you. Songs that get strong feedback will then be considered for full recordings.
